original musical workshop (winter 2026)
-
Our writing period begins on December 22nd at 6pm EST, with the 24th and 25th off for the Christmas holiday (a lot of us continue writing, but we simply don’t meet on these days!). Writing ends on the 29th. The product will then be rehearsed and filmed as a reading between the evenings of the 29th and the 31st.
-
We’re open to collaborating with all sorts of theatrical creatives! Bookwriters, lyricists, composers, actors, and musicians all have a place in the Workshop. Even if you’ve never tried writing musical theatre before, we encourage you to hop onboard and give it a try.
Into the technical side of producing? We’d love to have you too! We always need help in post-production, so if you’re a graphic designer or video/audio editor, feel free to let us know!

Writing can take place from anywhere! We will start entirely virtual, then, on the 26th, writers have the opportunity to join us in Kent, Connecticut for a brief retreat within the intensive process. We will continue hosting Zoom meetings throughout so our virtual writers can still connect with the team. Actors and musicians may also join in-person!
Our campus in Kent is located about 20 minutes away from the Tenmile River Metro-North station in Amenia, NY—which involves one transfer from a Southeast-bound train at Southeast, toward Wassaic. Currently, due to construction, this transfer is onto a bus. It’s likely to return to being a connecting train by the time our Workshop rolls around, though. In total, the trip should take about 2.5 hours from NYC.
If you’re local to CT, that’s great! Let us know if you need to carpool or find another way to join us in-person.
-
We will be providing dorm-style housing for our team, as well as some meals and snacks during our time in CT. Depending on the extent of your involvement, you can expect to stay anywhere from 3-6 days. Since we wrap on New Year’s Eve, a good portion of our admin team intend to stay into New Year’s Day, but everyone is released once we are officially done filming!
When we aren’t providing a meal, we will rotate meal pickups among those with vehicles, just so the writing/rehearsal flow is not entirely interrupted. You will be expected to pay for your own food at these points; some form of money transfer app is handy for this!
-
Since the concept for this musical is more fantastical and Dungeons & Dragons-y, we anticipate creating a true filmed reading with minimal staging, if any. We typically publish our Winter OMW reading in the New Year. We will notify the team of when that’s scheduled so you can join us in the live chat on our YouTube premiere!
