shudder:
a chilling new musical comedy
something spooky this way comes…
What happens when you blend an unusually bizarre Brothers Grimm tale with classic musical theatre conventions and horror tropes?
Shudder is based on a lesser-known Grimm tale. It has a few titles associated with it, but the one that sums the story up the best is probably “The Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear”.
Though somewhat unbelievable, we managed to keep a lot of the source material present in this show, including, but not limited to: bowling with bones, playing poker with black cats, and bringing the protagonist’s “cousin” back to life… just to subsequently shove him back in his own coffin.
A team of almost 20 created the initial workshop version of this show, which garnered 800 views on YouTube in its first week or so of existing online. You can watch that version of the show below!
where it started…
The staged reading of our original week-long script premiered online on New Year’s Eve, in December of 2023.
where it’s gone…
We had the privilege of bringing a revised version of Shudder to the New York Theater Festival in January of 2025.
We were nominated for six awards at this festival—taking home Best Vocalist (Emerson Hart as Silas), and Best Choreography (Brighton Valor Horan and Ali Ragazzini)!
i see where it’s going…
Stay tuned! There’s more in store for Shudder in 2026!😈
